So, I had four meetings today, one of which was just routine (a biweekly divisional meeting/chat.) The first two were short; one with my manager and one That included the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). This means my entire management chain through nearest C-level are now informed.

In the afternoon I had a meeting with HR. CTO couldn't be there, and I had a new person from university HR (the other one is overloaded right now) who is great. Making a long story short, we got the outstanding matters have been addressed and I am satisfied. We have the timeline for everything, who is doing/saying what, etc. I'm satisfied with what is not in it as well: restrictions on which women's restrooms. The only statement being made for that is I will primarily use the women's restroom on the second floor, which is going to be true since that's the floor where I work. The view within the room, particularly by managers, was that anyone objecting is welcome to use the gender neutral restroom on the first floor (and that they would have limited patience with any objectors.)

The result: meetings are now scheduled for this coming Wednesday with coworkers. CTO and HR will be there. On the Monday following I am D at work.

I've been following but not commenting:

The HR meeting is excellent news. I'm glad they didn't try to send you to a gender neutral restroom one floor down and two buildings over (I wish that were a hypothetical...).

I quite like the idea of having separate bathrooms and drinking fountains and lunch counters marked "BIGOTS" though. I mean, that shit could be catching.

Good news but I just don't get this thing about the loos at all.

What is it with people?

They handled it correctly though, so well done them! :o)

Oh, that is amazing news!! I'm so, so glad that management is supportive and will make it clear to objectors that it's *their* problem. (I LOVE the "so they can use the gender-neutral restroom if they're such bigots" approach.) For all the crap they've piled on you over the years, they picked the best possible moment to not be assholes (just this once).

It still might be hard to go back after only the weekend, but it should be worth it not to wait any longer.

Woo! As long as no one's spying over/under stalls, I don't have a problem sharing a bathroom with whomever. I mean, a [gasp!] lesbian could be in the next stall over in a women's bathroom. And that means she'd jump me and rape me right then, right? Horrors--a transgender person or even a man? Ack! :-) It was just a little weird because of how ingrained it is, when in Thailand, we were at the night market just as they were opening, and one of the restrooms wasn't through being cleaned, so they sent our entire party into just one restroom. I was peeing just down the line from my boyfriend and my brother. Oh well. Like I said, as long as no one's actively looking, what's the big deal? We all have bodily functions.

Okay, and as long as no one (hoverer or stander) pees on my seat, either. :-)

Hope people in your office have the same philosophy. :-)

I am so happy that the delay turned out to only be a week!

And WTG to management over the bathroom issue.

Here comes Dani!!!
