Thanksgiving.

Today is Thanksgiving in the US. For most of my life, this holiday was not a pleasant one.

This year is very different. There is simply so much over the past year.

My wife and I have accepted that our relationship was broken and both committed to fixing it, which we have.

Early this year I told my relatives that I was transitioning. The ones whose relationships mattered to me are still here.

I transitioned at work in the early Spring and my employer handled it very well. I had stayed there because I knew it was a good place to transition.

Later that same month we purchased a house, the first we have ever owned.

Last month I was recruited by and received an offer from a top employer in my field. This definitely was the professional brass ring for me.

Today, I'm at a condo in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. I'm sitting on a couch in the living room, looking out at whitecaps in the Atlantic Ocean, perhaps 100 feet away. I am here with my wife and my parents.

Through it all, I have had the most incredible friends.

My life is so rich and full, what is there that I do not have reason to be thankful this year?
