Two more days done and, wow! I read about 50 HR policies today so I could sign-off on that new employee task.
I learned I get to be fingerprinted. Been a long time since I've had that done.
I realized something today while my boss was taking me around to introduce me to various people with whom we work on the two of the floors of the building. It was actually the absence of one very short word: he. At UNC I was still getting pronoun misgendering. I don't know how much, if any, was intentional, and I'm sure at least some was accidental. Either way it carried an emotional cost which I payed.
I also had a moment today as I walked through the atrium on my floor (which is open to the floor above - there's the same thing for each pair of floors above and below that - and beautifully decorated) and though, how did it come to be that I work in a place like this?! I guess that's my form of a "pinch me" moment.
