My employer offers a pretty well appointed gym for use by employees and spouses or domestic partners. They also offer a free personal trainer service to get setup with a workout.
I decided it was time for me to do so. I met with him on Monday and today we did the first workout. Cardio is the name of the game, so I had ten minutes on an elliptical, three on an AMT, and five on a rower, plus some stretches, of course.
I made it through, but my legs felt as if they were made of rubber when I was done.
I'd had people push me to start this for various reasons, particularly because so many surgeons have BMI restricts for SRS. But I knew something about doing so for those reasons. All I would do is reach my goal and then stop. If I did it for SRS, for example, I'd probably be back to my previous weight within 2 years.
I needed to be in a place where I was doing this for one reason: myself. Because this was something I wanted to do. And it's with that motivation that I now approach.
