I'm going to begin this one on Friday, which was a hectic day for us - 1 P.M. to pick-up a cargo van rental and I had an appointment at 2:30 while my wife needed to run some errands and we were going to the Durham Bulls game that evening. I suggested she drop me off for that appointment (at Duke Clinics) then run her errands.
So, that appointment is really my big thing. Dr. P was great; she's really made me feel I can trust her, and after my experiences over the past two years with another endo, plus past ones with therapist, that's saying something! She definitely gets listening to the patient. We reviewed my recent blood labs and what I wanted truly mattered here, so my HRT now is:
100mg Spironolactone, twice daily.
2 x 0.10mg VivelleDOT patches, changed twice per week.
1 mg Estrace, taken sublingually twice daily.
We picked-up my prescription Friday evening before we went to the Bulls game and I took the first dose when we arrived home. I had to laugh as the physical characteristics of the tablet are blue and diamond, looking like a miniature version of a far more famous blue pill...
Saturday was a road trip with the cargo van. I was up at around 05:30 (my usual time) and got my wife up so we could get on the road to Little Switzerland, NC, to pick up some furniture we purchased there two weeks ago. The drive out was uneventful, and the only thing I noticed when loading the furniture was that it's clear I've lost strength. We had lunch at the cafe (their Grown-Up Grilled Cheese - Goulda and Bleu Cheese - plus a small salad and the Hazelnut cake for dessert hit the spot.) Rain was beginning as we departed and it became moderate on our descent from the mountains on NC 226, which is curvy route. Only one turn concerned me, and that was because I was forced to brake in the turn due to the driver of the vehicle ahead of me drastically reducing their speed mid-turn.
This rain would be the theme of the day as we would drive through four different storms. The worst part was when we got through them, to the east side, and then were into the wind ahead of the storm, which seriously pushed that van. This was the reason I didn't ask my wife to drive as I had experience with such vehicles in those conditions.
Once home my parents helped unload the furniture and we bought them dinner at Mad Hatter's Bakeshop.
Sunday was returning the cargo van and some furniture pads that were rented, and just spending some time together. This moved on to other activities and I learned a few lessons about who/where I am, and it was a very pleasant one to learn.
